WE VOLUNTEER FOR SEARCH AND RESCUE

R3 K9 SAR (search and rescue) is a regional team of dog handlers who are also search and rescue volunteers.  R3 K9 SAR is a unit under Mary's Peak Search and Rescue, which is a 501c(3) organization affiliated with the Benton County Sheriff's Office. Our region supports 9 counties in the Mid-Valley region of Oregon, and we are the primary provider of certified K9 search and rescue teams for Sheriff’s Offices and other law enforcement agencies in Benton, Marion, Polk, Linn, Lincoln, and Jefferson counties in Oregon.

WE TRAIN TO THE HIGHEST STANDARDS

R3 K9 SAR holds K9 teams to the highest of standards.  We require handlers are state SAR certified before testing for certification as a K9 team. We require all k9 teams to acquire a national certification before deploying in the field.   All vounteers own their dogs, and invest their time, money and energy into countless hours of training to help others.

WE TEACH IN OUR COMMUNITY

We use public relation opportunities to teach children, youth, and other community members' techniques on how to remain safe in wilderness and urban environments.  Many K9 Handlers also use their other dogs as therapy dogs here in our communities.
